The heir apparent to Toni Bou, Marcelli has been closely linked to Montesa Honda throughout his professional career and the Galician was promoted to the factory team after the retirement of Takahisa Fujinami ahead of the 2020 campaign. A first podium that year at X-Trial Budapest has been a sign of things to come; he was only outside of the rostrum places once last season and for the second successive year won the bronze medal. Only a narrow margin behind Jaime Busto in both seasons, he also kept Toni Bou honest at the end of 2023, and given his constant progression his first win is now within reach.
