While Toni Bou is the 2022 World Champion, the fight for FIM medals remains open
Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) may arrive at X-Trial Andorra la Vella already assured of a sixteenth world title, but his rivals will be out for the remaining places on the Championship podium while Bou bids to complete another unbeaten season in front of friends and fans at his home Round.
Adam Raga (TRRS) currently occupies second place in the Standings with 57 points, although he hasn’t yet made a mathematical certainly of the silver medal with Matteo Grattarola (Beta) theoretically still able to reach him. More likely, though, is that the season finale will be focused on the battle for bronze between Grattarola on 39 points and Jaime Busto (Vertigo) just eight behind on 31.
The 2022 World Championship, that has so far comprised four Rounds before the summer break, has seen no less than five different riders on to an X-Trial podium: along with Bou, Raga and Grattarola, Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team) finished second in Madrid and Toby Martyn (TRRS) was third in Chalon-sur-Saône; the pair will now renew their duel for fifth overall.
The field will be completed by Benoit Bincaz (Gas Gas) and Sondre Haga (Beta), the newly crowned Trial2 World Champion. In all, eight riders will face the close of the 2022 season under the lights of the Poliesportiu d’Andorra.
