Premieres, competition, show and celebrations to close the season

Tarragona brings the FIM X-Trial World Championship to a close this weekend with plenty of things to take into account

The final round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship season, set to take place at the Caixabank Tarraco Arena next Saturday, April 18, starting at 18:00, comes packed with exciting storylines to watch.

On one hand, there is the battle for the World Championship runner-up spot between Spaniards Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team) and Jaime Busto (Beta). Marcelli holds 108 points compared to Busto’s 98 and is aiming for the first runner-up title of his career, while Busto is looking to defend his chances and, above all, make his debut in Tarragona as an official Beta rider with a victory.

From a sporting perspective, this is the main attraction, although Marcelli and Busto will have to overcome Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team), who aims to close the season—after securing his twentieth World Championship title in this discipline—by claiming his eighth win, while also celebrating his new world title close to his hometown of Piera in front of family, friends, and fans.

Meanwhile, young Harry Hemingway (Beta), the clear best rookie of the 2026 season, will be aiming for his seventh final of the season and what could be his third podium finish. However, more experienced riders like Matteo Grattarola (Beta) and Arnau Farré (Sherco) will not make things easy, as they share the same goal.

At the same time, young riders Francesco Titli (Montesa) and Marco Mempör (TRRS) will be looking to shine and prove they deserve a place among the world’s top riders next season. Titli has achieved one fifth-place finish and has competed in four rounds, while Mempör makes his 2026 Championship debut, adding a new nationality and becoming the fourteenth rider to compete this season.

In addition to all these points of interest that make the season finale next Saturday so exciting and engaging, the event also marks the return to a city and venue that have previously been linked to indoor trial competitions.
