The San Miguel Tarraco Arena, the official name of the venue, is the modern evolution of Tarragona’s former bullring. Originally built in 1988, the arena underwent a major transformation in 2010 to become a multifunctional space, which included the addition of a retractable roof, among other upgrades.
This venue has hosted world-class musical performances as well as major shows such as the Cirque du Soleil. It is also the annual stage for the Concurs de Castells de Tarragona, which brings together practitioners of this iconic Catalan tradition.
From a sporting perspective, the arena has been the site of major events such as various disciplines of the 2018 Mediterranean Games, exhibitions by the Harlem Globetrotters, the 2014 ASOBAL Handball Super Cup, and several Freestyle competitions.
In 2010, it hosted an Indoor Trial event, and six years later welcomed an exhibition by the Repsol Honda Team.
