The X-Trial World Championship lands at the Cathedral

Barcelona sets the stage for the fourth round of the season, with Bou and Busto battling for the lead and the debut of the FIM Women's X-Trial Trophy

The Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona will be the stage this Sunday, starting at 5:00 PM, for another showdown in the ongoing battle between Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team) and Jaime Busto (GasGas) at the top of the Championship standings. Additionally, the first edition of the FIM Women's X-Trial Trophy will kick off, with its scoring events taking place in Barcelona and Stavanger.

Bou and Busto arrive in Barcelona separated by just five points in favor of the World Champion, who has won two events compared to his rival's one. Behind them is Adam Raga (Sherco), who has already secured two podium finishes this season and will bid farewell to fans in Barcelona after announcing his retirement. His impressive track record includes four World Championship titles, 38 world victories, and six wins at the Palau Sant Jordi.

Tied at 24 points in the battle for fourth place are Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team) and Benoit Bincaz (Sherco). These five riders have participated in all three events held so far. Joining them this time are Matteo Grattarola (Beta), who already knows what it's like to stand on the Sant Jordi podium, having done so in 2022; Aniol Gelabert (TRRS), making his 2025 season debut; and young British rider Harry Hemingway (Beta), who has just turned 19.

On the other hand, the debut of the newly created FIM Women's X-Trial Trophy, with its first event at the Palau Sant Jordi, will feature Berta Abellán (Scorpa), last year's winner, Italian Andrea Sofia Rabino (Beta), who finished third, French rider Naomi Monnier (Montesa), British competitor Alice Minta (Beta), and Czech rider Denisa Pechakova (TRRS). This will be the fifth time women compete in Barcelona, but the first time as part of an official Trophy. Stavanger, Norway, will host the second and final round of this Championship.

With all these exciting elements, the show is guaranteed in the most legendary event of the discipline, which first took place in 1978.
