The return of the World Championship to Great Britain will feature three local riders: the Hemingway brothers and Peace
The sixth round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship will include the eleventh rider of the 2026 season, marking the Championship’s return to Great Britain after a long absence, as its last visit took place in January 2016 in Sheffield. George Hemingway (Beta) will make his debut in Leeds, his hometown, in the event scheduled for 5:00 pm (local time), 6:00 pm (CET) on 24 January at the First Direct Bank Arena. He will join his brother Harry (Beta) and Jack Peace (Sherco) as local representatives.
Together with his brother Harry, George Hemingway is a member of a family deeply rooted in the world of trial, with his main inspirations coming from his father Dan and his uncle Ben. At just 17 years, he joins the FIM X-Trial World Championship as a clear sign of his potential and steady progression.
The X-Trial Leeds marks the beginning of the second half of the Championship and brings with it a slight change in the criteria used to select the eight participants for each round. As a result, the provisional top five in the Championship standings — Toni Bou (Repsol Honda Trial Team), Gabriel Marcelli (Repsol Honda Trial Team), Jaime Busto, Harry Hemingway, and Matteo Grattarola (Beta) — headline the Leeds line-up.
The other three riders are proposed by the Promoter and approved by the FIM. The sixth and seventh riders must be FIM World Championship competitors, while the eighth does not necessarily have to be. In this case, they are Jack Peace, French rider Hugo Dufrese (Beta), who was in the round on Réunion Island, and the aforementioned George Hemingway. All of them will battle for the sixth podium of the 2026 season in the demanding and spectacular sections of Leeds.
