Busto will debut with Beta in Tarragona

The current World Championship runner-up aims to win his first event aboard the Beta Sincro Factory with a victory

The final round of the 2026 season, set to take place at the Caixabank Tarraco Arena next Saturday, April 18, starting at 18:00, will be the stage where Jaime Busto makes his debut as a rider for the Beta brand, with which he will compete in the 2026 and 2027 seasons. The Spaniard will be aiming for his first victory with the brand he has returned to after last riding Italian machines back in the 2014 season.

Busto also arrives at this final round of the FIM X-Trial World Championship season in a tight battle with Gabriel Marcelli for the World Championship runner-up spot. The new Beta rider trails his rival by ten points but still has a mathematical chance to overtake him and secure his fourth consecutive world runner-up title. However, to achieve this, victory appears to be almost essential.

The Basque rider’s participation in Tarragona as an official factory rider once again will close a difficult period in which he had to face the last rounds riding a 2018 GasGas following the brand’s withdrawal from official competition. Busto competed in his last event as an official rider for that brand in Ponte di Legno in mid-December, and from then on, he took part in Leeds, Barcelona, and Chalon-sur-Saône with his own bike.

So far this season, which is now coming to an end, the World Championship runner-up has reached the podium six times: four third-place finishes, one second place, and one victory, which came in Saint-Denis on Réunion Island. In Tarragona, he will be aiming for his second win of the season to close it out and mark his debut with Beta in the best possible way.
